Official rules of the weekly tournaments
Effective October 1, 2026. Organizer: Rafael Vásquez, publisher of Mi Frente.
Apple is not a sponsor of, nor involved in any way with, these tournaments.
Tournaments are free, there is no entry fee and prizes are virtual only: no money and nothing that can be exchanged, sold or transferred.
1. Who can take part
- Anyone using Mi Frente on an iPhone or iPad with an internet connection. Nothing needs to be purchased: Dominó Completo gives no entry or advantage.
- You play under your ranked-profile nickname. The country and province you represent are optional, chosen by you and shown in the tables (the province is what counts for the Cup of the Provinces).
- Players serving a time-out for abandoning can’t join while it lasts.
2. When they are played
Four tournaments a week, on Dominican Republic time (UTC−4, no daylight saving). The app also shows them in your phone’s time zone.
| Tournament | Dominican time | New York (summer / winter) | Madrid (summer / winter) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wednesday Corner Cup Wednesday | 8:00–9:30 p.m. | 8:00 p.m. / 7:00 p.m. | 2:00 a.m. Thursday / 1:00 a.m. |
| Friday Night Dominoes Friday | 9:00–11:00 p.m. | 9:00 p.m. / 8:00 p.m. | 3:00 a.m. Saturday / 2:00 a.m. |
| Saturday Diaspora Cup Saturday | 3:00–5:00 p.m. | 3:00 p.m. / 2:00 p.m. | 9:00 p.m. / 8:00 p.m. |
| Sunday Colmado Cup Sunday | 6:00–8:00 p.m. | 6:00 p.m. / 5:00 p.m. | 12:00 a.m. Monday / 11:00 p.m. |
Example: Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Dominican time is 9:00 p.m. in Madrid during summer time (8:00 p.m. in winter). Games started before the close count if they finish within the next 30 minutes.
3. How it works
- While the tournament is open, you queue for games and play as many as you like. Each game is partners, with random partner and opponents, using the Dominican rules to 200.
- If four people aren’t in the queue after 45 seconds, the computer fills the table.
4. Points
| Result | Points |
|---|---|
| Win | 2 |
| Win while “on fire” (after 2 wins in a row) | 4 |
| Win with a lisa (the others didn’t score) | +1 extra |
| Win at a table filled by the computer | 1 (doesn’t count toward the streak) |
| Loss | 0 (streak ends) |
| Abandon | −2 (streak ends) |
5. Tie-breaks
If two players have the same points, the one ahead is: (1) the one with more wins; (2) if still tied, the one who played fewer games; (3) if still tied, the one who finished their last game first.
6. Prizes (virtual only)
- Trophy in gold, silver and bronze for 1st, 2nd and 3rd (with more than 0 points).
- “Among the best” plaque for the others finishing in the top 10% of the table.
- Cup of the Provinces: each province adds up the points of its 5 best players; the 5 who scored for the winning province receive the cup.
- “Champion of the week” profile frame for the winner, until the next tournament on the same day.
Prizes are kept in your profile’s trophy case. They have no cash value, can’t be exchanged for anything and can’t be sold or moved to another account. Players hidden from the rankings can still win tournament trophies.
7. Abandoning, cheating and disqualification
- You abandon if you leave a game and don’t come back before it ends. Each abandon takes 2 points off in the tournament, counts as a loss and brings a time-out from ranked play and tournaments: 5 minutes the first time, 30 minutes the second and 24 hours from the third within a day. Your partner loses nothing if they lose with the computer beside them.
- Colluding to give away points, using several accounts, programs that play for you or any other cheating leads to losing the tournament’s points and prizes and, if repeated, to losing online access.
- Cheating decisions are made by the organizer after reviewing reports and the results recorded on the server. If you disagree, email us.
8. Changes
Schedules, points and prizes may change to keep tournaments fair. Any change is posted on this page before it applies and announced in the app.
